The fourth overall pick from the 2021 NHL Draft then regroups and curls up ice, gaining speed as he enters the offensive zone where he slides through two Washington defenders to get a shot from the high slot before wrapping home the rebound for the game winner.

Connor McDavid set career highs in goals, assists and points in 2022-23 while also becoming the fourth player in NHL history to register more than 152 points in a single season – and first since Mario Lemieux in 1995-96. This highlight begins with a brilliant McDavid assist versus the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 11, 2023, as McDavid steals the puck from Thomas Chabot and spins to protect it before finding Ryan McLeod for a shorthanded goal on the road. In the following play, McDavid nets his 60th goal of the season on March 22, 2023, versus the Arizona Coyotes. In overtime, McDavid streaks up the middle of the ice where he receives a beautiful backhand pass from Leon Draisaitl. On the breakaway, McDavid hits the post and the puck squirts out to the boards where Draisaitl wins the battle and feeds McDavid again – who this time buries for the milestone goal and game-winner at home.

An absolutely thrilling scoring machine, Connor McDavid displays his world-class acceleration and finishing abilities. In overtime, McDavid curls for the pass before turning on the jets to blow by the defenders and roofs the puck top shelf in-tight at top speed for the game-winning goal. McDavid collected 850 points in his first eight NHL seasons (in only 569 games) – by far the most by any player since he entered the League in 2015-16. McDavid had 64 goals and 153 points in 2022-23 to win his first career Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy and fifth Art Ross Trophy, posting the highest goal total by any player since 2007-08 and most points since 1995-96.

Marner set career highs in assists (69) and points (99) in 2022-23, with his assist count standing as the highest by a Toronto Maple Leafs player since 1993-94 when Doug Gilmour had 84.

Maple Leafs captain John Tavares nets the overtime winner in Game 6, advancing Toronto to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2004. The Greater Toronto Area-native Tavares begins the play with a good keep at the blueline sending it in deep to rookie Matthew Knies. Knies then gets the puck back to Tavares who is continuing behind the net. Protecting the puck, he gets out to the faceoff dot before turning around and sending a shot toward the net that gets redirected by a Tampa Bay skate into the net.

On the play, it begins with Nico Hischier moving the puck to Jesper Bratt who gains the blueline. Bratt then buys some time and spins to pass the puck over to the trailing Hamilton who roofs it top shelf over the glove of Igor Shesterkin. The Devils would later go on to win the series in seven games.

Kirill Kaprizov had an impressive NHL debut registering three points in Minnesota’s 4-3 win which included the overtime winner against the Los Angeles Kings. Beginning with an errant pass by the Kings, Kaprizov pounces on the turnover near center ice. After tipping it by the sliding defender, he heads down on a breakaway where he makes a backhand-to-forehand move that redirects off his skate and past the netminder for his first career goal. In his Calder Memorial Trophy-winning season, Kaprizov averaged nearly a point per game amassing 51 points in only 55 games.

In a matchup of two Original Six teams, Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins get the best of Toronto. During the final minute of the overtime frame, Marchand disrupts the play at center ice causing a turnover and sending David Pastrnak on a breakaway. After Pastrnak’s shot attempt is foiled, he throws it back towards the net where it goes in the air. Marchand, near the far post, gloves it down and shoots it into the open net for the game winner.

Seconds later with Florida gaining possession of the puck, Forsling wheels up the ice, opens up for the pass from Sam Bennett and one-times the OT winner.
