In Game 5 of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final for Vegas, Mark Stone scored a hat trick and became the first team captain in history to do so in a Cup-clinching game. In his first goal featured in this highlight, it begins on a Vegas penalty kill in the middle of the first period. Stone pounces on a Florida turnover made at the blueline where he picks up the puck in the neutral zone with speed. Now headed on a two-on-one, he displays great patience and awareness with the puck by slowing up and allowing the defender to go down and commit to the pass. Stone then roofs it top shelf over Bobrovsky’s glove for the shorty which is the first goal of the game and tilted the momentum towards Vegas. Stone would later go on to net the hatty with an empty netter in the third period.
