A three-time Selke Trophy winner as the NHL’s top defensive forward, Guy Carbonneau built a Hall of Fame career by shutting down the league’s brightest stars. Over 19 seasons, he captured three Stanley Cups and was a perennial Selke contender. Against the Buffalo Sabres, he displayed his trademark defensive edge with a crushing hit on Pat LaFontaine that forced a turnover and electrified the Montreal crowd. He also contributed offensively, scoring a key third-period shorthanded goal in Game 3 of the 1993 playoffs against Buffalo—a run that ended with the Canadiens hoisting the Cup. Spending his first 13 seasons in Montreal, Carbonneau claimed two of his three championships with the Canadiens.
