After the Washington Capitals started the scoring, Sebastian Aho netted his first career goal to tie the game in the middle of the first period. On the play, the puck is redirected behind the net and bounces towards the left side of the rink. Aho, in pursuit of the puck, wins the battle for it and makes a nice play to find Teuvo Teravainen who then feeds it over to Jordan Staal for the scoring opportunity. As the shot is taken, Aho finds himself in perfect position to find the rebound and bury it for his first career goal. He later would go on to score another on an empty netter to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 5-2 victory. Aho amassed 49 points, including 24 goals, during his impressive rookie season.
