Positioned initially in front of the net, rookie Nathan MacKinnon maneuvers to the high slot, cleverly creating space for his teammate, Paul Stastny, to feed him the puck. MacKinnon snaps it far side for his first goal which came on the power play in the second period of his fifth career NHL game. MacKinnon would finish his rookie season with 63 points in 82 contests and was named the recipient of the Calder Memorial Trophy.
