Playing in the 2018 NHL Global Series held in Helsinki, Finland, Patrik Laine netted a hat trick in front of his home country fans. The Finland native, born in Tampere just north of Helsinki, had a night to remember. His first goal came on a Winnipeg power play in the latter half of the second period, where his wrist shot went upstairs to beat the goaltender. Early in the third, during a 5-on-3 advantage, Laine blasted home a one-timer for his second goal, which later proved to be the game-winner. He capped off the evening with an empty-netter to seal the game, delighting the Finnish crowd who threw their hats onto the ice in celebration.
