In his debut season with the Rangers, goaltender Jonathan Quick delivered a stellar performance in Pittsburgh, turning away all 32 shots he faced to secure a 1-0 victory. During the initial period, Quick skillfully blocked a Reilly Smith attempt right at the doorstep. Early in the third period, while maintaining a one-goal lead, Quick executed a remarkable save, swiftly extending his right pad to thwart Sidney Crosby's one-timer attempt. As the clock ticked down with the goalie pulled for an extra attacker and less than 15 seconds left in the game, Crosby found himself alone in the slot, but Quick made another incredible stop, this time using his shoulder to deny the puck. This shutout marked Quick's 60th in his illustrious career, a feat achieved by only 19 other goalies in NHL history.
