In Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round, with the score knotted at 2-2 and the clock ticking deep into double overtime, Jordan Martinook delivered the moment Carolina fans had been waiting for.
After watching a first-overtime penalty shot denied by Linus Ullmark, Martinook found instant redemption in the second extra frame. Receiving a pass from Nikolaj Ehlers in the high slot, Martinook fired a wrist shot through a screen that found it’s way to the back of the net.
Martinook’s first career playoff overtime goal provided the Hurricanes with a 2-0 series lead which they eventually swept.
