Luc Robitaille, the current all-time goal-scoring leader for the Los Angeles Kings, scored his first NHL goal in his first career game. Playing at home in front of the Kings’ crowd, the play began with a dump-in by Robitaille to start the attack. As the puck was thrown around the boards by the netminder, Marcel Dionne intercepted it and found Robitaille, who headed to the front of the net for a tap-in goal. Robitaille led all rookies during the 1986-87 season in both goals (45) and points (84), earning him the Calder Trophy.
