Crosby reached this milestone by scoring two goals and an assist against the Detroit Red Wings. The first goal occurred in the closing seconds of the first period, as Crosby’s relentless forecheck applied pressure on Jake Walman, eventually leading to a turnover. Crosby seized the puck right in front of the net and sniped a backhand shot upstairs. After notching an assist in the second period to hit 1,499 points, Crosby reached the milestone with his second goal of the game during a Penguins power play early in the third period.
