Goal vs OTT | 1st Period | Oct 12, 2016

During the 2016-17 season opener in Ottawa, Auston Matthews achieved an unprecedented feat, netting four goals in his NHL debut. This historic performance set the modern-era record for most goals in a player's first game. His initial goal resulted from a Zach Hyman wraparound, placing the puck directly on Matthews' stick in front of the net. His second showcased his skill as he stripped Mark Stone of the puck, maneuvered past Mike Hoffman, and then stripped Erik Karlsson along the boards before capitalizing on the sensational goal. Matthews' third goal came via a Morgan Rielly pass, completing his hat trick early in the second period. His fourth goal, solidifying the record, came from a William Nylander pass during a 2-on-1 play. Matthews concluded his exceptional rookie season with 40 goals, earning both the Calder Trophy and acclaim.
