Goal vs SJS | 1st Period | Nov 7, 2007

In a game on Nov. 7, 2007, against the San Jose Sharks, Mike Modano etched his name in the history books. Needing one point to tie Phil Housley and two points to overtake him for the most by an American-born player in NHL history, Modano immediately went to work. At the 2:19 mark of the first period, Modano received a cross-ice pass from defenseman Sergei Zubov. Skating down the wing with his jersey flapping in the wind, Modano unleashed a powerful shot near the top of the circle that beat Sharks goaltender Evgeni Nabokov glove side to give the Stars an early lead and place him in a tie with Housley. Modano scored again before the five-minute mark to surpass Housley as the highest-scoring U.S.-born player in League history.
