Goal vs VAN | 1st Period | Jan 8, 2026

In a milestone-filled stretch, Patrick Kane scored twice to reach the 500-goal plateau — becoming just the fifth United States-born player to accomplish the feat and the 50th player in NHL history to do so.
Goal No. 499 came in the final minute of the first period, as Kane cashed in on a 5-on-3 power play for the Red Wings. Then in the third, with the home crowd in Detroit on its feet, he sent an empty-netter into the cage to secure career goal No. 500 and put the game away.
The milestone tally came just weeks before Kane later surpassed Mike Modano for the most points in NHL history by a U.S.-born player — two landmark moments in a season that further cemented his legacy as one of the greatest American players the game has ever seen.
