In the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Philadelphia Flyers faced off against their rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins, a team they hadn’t beaten in a playoff series since 2000. With a chance to clinch the series in Game 6, Flyers captain Claude Giroux made an immediate impact. Right after the opening faceoff, Giroux delivered a massive hit on Sidney Crosby, igniting the home crowd. Moments later, in the same shift, he fired in the first goal, giving the Flyers a lead they never surrendered as they went on to eliminate the Penguins. Giroux dominated the series, leading all players with 14 points in six games. Throughout the decade beginning with the 2010-11 season, Giroux ranked 4th in the league for points and was a Top 5 finalist for the Hart Trophy in three different seasons.
