After tying Phil Housley's record for the most points by an American-born player in NHL history with a goal in the opening minutes of the Stars' game against the San Jose Sharks on Nov. 7, 2007, Mike Modano made history a little more than two minutes later. With the Stars on the penalty kill, Modano chipped a loose puck past Sharks defenseman Matt Carle and raced in on a breakaway. With a deke to the backhand, Modano slipped the puck past Sharks goaltender Evgeni Nabokov to become the highest-scoring U.S.-born player of all time.
