With the Capitals trailing by one late in the third period, Charlie Lindgren began skating toward the bench to bring on an extra attacker. But as he reached halfway, a turnover at the far blue line forced him to stop in his tracks. The puck quickly found its way to Vancouver’s Phillip Di Giuseppe at the red line, who appeared to have a clear shot at the empty net. In a moment of pure determination, Lindgren raced back across the ice and, just in the nick of time, leapt to snag the puck out of midair, denying the seemingly certain goal.
