Selected 7th overall by the Canucks in the 2018 NHL Draft, Quinn Hughes entered the League with high expectations as a smooth-skating, skilled defenseman—and he delivered. In the Canucks' 2019-20 home opener against the Los Angeles Kings, Hughes scored his first career goal with a power-play slapshot that beat the goaltender. After appearing in just five games the previous season, Hughes finished his first full NHL campaign with an impressive 53 points in 68 games.
